Prompt: If America is a representative democracy, does this imply rule by the majority? What

people with disabilities)? Are these protections sufficient to meet a norm of egalitarianism?

Content: The learning outcome for this assignment is to synthesize course materials and lessons from
the course, as well as reputable outside materials, into a cogent argument. Furthermore, you must take
a clear stance on the questions presented and use evidence to back up your position. Please avoid
personal or anecdotal evidence. In addition to citing your course materials, your essay should rely on 5-
10 outside sources. What do I mean by an “outside source”? You should rely on scholarly books, journal
articles, or “long form news” (news pieces that are several or more pages in length). The stacks,
librarians, and online resources of University Libraries have everything you could need. A good place to
start to find scholarly journal articles is the JSTOR database which you can access freely on campus or
remotely through the library. Another valuable resource is Google Scholar.
Format: Please clearly label your essay with your name and the prompt you are replying to. Your essay
should be 6-8 pages in length (not including references) with 1 in margins, Times, New Roman 12-pt
font, double-spaced. You must have a minimum of 6 full pages and please do not exceed 8 pages. You
must include in-text citations (e.g. Williams, 2020) and you must have a complete reference section at
